Merehan Fouda

A house officer at Ain Shams University Hospitals, graduating with a Bachelor of Medicine in Internal Medicine and General Surgery in 2024. Merehan is a passionate advocate for Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) and an internationally certified facilitator on Gender-Based Violence. Currently, she is a Lazord Fellow and an intern at the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Egypt, and she has previously worked as a Monitoring & Evaluation Officer at the El-Shehab Institution for Comprehensive Development. She is not only goal-oriented but also focused on being a human-centered doctor, with aspirations for a parallel global health career alongside her medical practice.

Merehan has a seven-year advocacy journey during which she has held various positions, including serving as an executive board member of the International Federation of Medical Students’ Associations in Egypt (IFMSA-Egypt), and she currently holds the roles of Secretary General and Treasurer for 2024. She is certified internationally in Financial Management, Administration, and Logistics Organization. Throughout this journey, Merehan has developed skills in a variety of areas such as Project and Activity Management, Financial Management, Archiving and Documentation, Monitoring and Evaluation, Event Planning and Organization, Leadership, Teamwork, G Suite and Google Apps, Proposal Writing, and Reporting. Notably, the key skill she has gained is Communication, which has been instrumental to her accomplishments and experiences.

Yara Emad

Yara has been working as an advanced trainer in the field of (SRHR) and gender with Y-PEER Egypt (Funded by UNFPA ) since 2016. She currently works as a trainer on comprehensive sexuality education with Love Matters.

Yara tries to understand the health problems that occur in Egypt and which methods are followed by health organizations. She attended a reproductive health training with the Asfari Institute for Civil Society and Citizenship at the American University of Beirut.

Yara is also interested in the field of research, and participated on a research project between Agiad Psychiatric Hospital in Egypt and Pittsburgh University in the USA in 2020.

Areeg Badawy

Areeg Badawy

Areeg graduated from Cairo University with a degree in veterinary medicine. However, she loves to identify herself as a social activist and an advocate for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals through working to enhance young people’s sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) and reducing the gender gap. Areeg is an experienced trainer in the field of peer education, SRHR, and gender. Her interest in the field of SRHR has grown through being a peer educator in Y-peer for 3 years, and serving now as a MEL officer in USAID-funded project OSRA.

If Areeg had a superpower, she would want to be able to plant diverse types of trees and crops in all deserted areas around the world.
