Batool Altaher

Batool is a very passionate and active law student interested in human rights and women’s rights. Through the Lazord Fellowship, she worked for one year at Plan International, on a project which aims to empower girls and young women and enhance their participation in the decision-making process. This opportunity enriched her project management skills, in addition to empowering her with the importance of human rights-based projects to change harmful social norms.

Rania Triki

Rania Triki

Rania has a background in law, with a bachelor’s degree in private law and a master’s degree in democracy and electoral management. She is passionate about women’s rights, minority rights, and children with disabilities. She volunteer in a deaf mute association, and is now working with Article 19 through the Lazord Fellowship.

Shahd Alayed

Shahd Alayed is a youth leader who graduated from the Hikmat Leaders program. She is interested in community work and social entrepreneurship, particularly in the education and unemployment fields. Shahd started a project called “PlanZ” to address the gap between student skills and market needs. Through the Lazord Fellowship, Shahd is working as a MENA training assistant for New Tactics in Human Rights.

Liliann Saudi

Liliann Saudi

Through the Lazord Fellowship, Liliann is a research assistant at West Asia – North Africa (WANA) Institute, where she is a part of the Like-Minded CAAC Working Group – UNETCHAC. Liliann has a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Jordan. Her last internship was at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates in the media field, in which she was responsible for writing daily and weekly news reports, and assisted more than one research project. She had the opportunity to be the stenographer in the Jordan-EU Association Council-14th session. She is also a volunteer at Global Humanitarian organization. She was an intern at Friedrich Ebert Stiftung, where she attended a lot of trainings and workshops like human rights, climate change, communication skills, dialogue skills and social justice. She was a volunteer at the King Hussein Cancer Center and Foundation (KHCC-KHCF). Lastly, she was an intern at New Tactics in Human Rights-Center for Victims of Torture, where she completed the online course on, “Strategic Advocacy: Planning and tracking advocacy campaigns.”

Basil Ibrahim

Basil Ibrahim, a professional trainer with over four years of experience, specializes in conducting training sessions and facilitating discussions on advocacy, human rights, collective responsibility, and conflict resolution and transformation. As a MENA trainer at New Tactics in Human Rights and a LAZORD alumni, Basil has successfully conducted over 30 training sessions across five different countries. Furthermore, Basil extends his impact by giving mentoring for the implementation of advocacy campaigns in the MENA region, effectively combining his training skills with practical guidance for the advancement of human rights causes. In addition to his training and mentoring expertise, Basil is deeply committed to build cross-cultural communication. He volunteers as a facilitator for the Spanish table at Bla Bla for language exchange, actively contributing to language exchange and community building.

Jihen Zemzmi

Jihen Zemzmi

Jihen is a journalist who graduated from the Institute of Journalism and Science of Information. She is ambitious, dynamic, and loves humanitarian and civil work. The Lazord Fellowship represented a turning point in her life, as it contributed greatly to the opening of doors to civil society in her life, where she found something of her identity and passion, where everyone gathers together for the sake of humanity.

Israa Attia

Israa Attia

Israa is a proposal writer on sustainable development. She coordinates the, “Introducing life skills and citizenship education program in Libya,” which is funded by UNICEF Libya. In addition to that, she is responsible for drafting the Strategic Resources Development plan for running developmental programs in the MENA region. As a Lazord Fellow, she was placed at Ashoka Arab World, where she assisted in capacity building for leading social entrepreneurs in the Arab world region to help them scale their social impact. Due to her national and international experience in various fields such as social entrepreneurship, human rights, civic engagement, and economic empowerment, she has a comprehensive understanding of the challenges in the the MENA region. Israa is also an entrepreneur,  having co-founded the Mok3ab coworking space in Egypt.

Yosra Bahri

Yosra Bahri

Yosra is a 31-year-old international relations graduate with an ongoing master’s degree in political science, diplomacy and international relations. She is also a Lazord Fellow and project coordinator at Search for Common Ground Tunisia. Interested in international relations, she has visited the European Institutions and both the French Senate and Parliament. She believes that being a part of the Lazord Fellowship will help her to improve her skills and to be a helpful member of society.

Lamis Issa

Lamis Issa

Lamis is a 24-year-old law graduate with an ongoing master’s degree in political science, and she is a Lazord Fellow and project coordinator at ARTICLE19. She started exploring Tunisian civil society by joining several NGO’s and attending various human rights trainings since 2011. She believes that being a part of the Lazord Fellowship will help her to improve her skills and to be a helpful member in society.

Ahmed Elsawy

Ahmed Elsawy was one of the top students in the military academy when he decided to be close to people, to be creative, and find a safe space to enhance his skills, and his passion. Through his long volunteering experience which he is grateful for, he was involved in a great deal of independent research requiring initiative, self–motivation, and a wide range of skills. He volunteered for one of the most reputable organizations “Community Development “as a Case Worker who determined the funding process of families.

Moreover, he had a spectacular experience as a PR specialist. He wrote analytical reports to the President and General Secretary in his work. With the same passion to serve his community, he also, worked as a Case Manager with refugees and later as a Facilitator for children and refugees in “Terre des Hommes “. He gave sessions about avoiding violence in schools after having the needed training.

He joined the UNAIDS program as a Social Mobilization and Youth Coordinator for one year during his Lazord fellowship which enhanced his skills in communication, PR, M&E, organization, collaboration, writing analytical reports, strategic planning, management, assessment, technical support for a governmental organization or NGO’s. Furthermore, he worked as a Project Coordinator at Educate Me Foundation which improves the governmental schools. In addition, he was the Branch Manager at Masr Al Mahrousa Balady Association, the Administration Section Head and later the Business Development Officer at SYE Foundation.

Currently, he has been working as a COO at Roaya Group Company.
