Biography

Mahmoud is a medical intern and multidisciplinary cultural practitioner from Tanta. His early experiences with community initiatives, a family library, and cinema shaped a lasting interest in people, narratives, and social systems. Moving to Cairo marked a turning point in his understanding of society and civic engagement. Seeking perspectives beyond the hospital, he became involved in cultural and civic spaces, with a focus on youth and community empowerment. This journey shaped his view of creative and learning practices as tools for inquiry, dialogue, and social change.

Mahmoud has contributed to films, exhibitions, publications, and live programs in collaboration with organizations such as CIC, Alwan wa Awtar, AFAC, Medrar, and the Goethe-Institut. His work explores themes of spatial justice, archiving, and language practices, aiming to foster collective reflection. Professionally, he has held communication and project roles with The Dialogue Company, Acts Sustainable, Care Egypt, and Etijah Institute. As a Lazord Fellow, he applies interdisciplinary and evidence-informed approaches to support community needs and youth engagement.
